ah cool, i'm attempting one of these for my homework, any tips before i completely wreck it?

what are the conditions of the assignment? just mixed media portrait? well let's see...1) ink spatter always looks cool. it's random and energetic and helps create mood in the piece. 2) you don't have to limit yourself to one piece of paper. chop it up, rearrange it, glue new scraps of paper to the surface and keep drawing over the whole surface. chipboard is a good cheap and durable piece of material (think really dense/stiff cardboard) to work on. 3) alternate between building up the environment and drawing the actual image. don't think in terms of one first and the other last.
there's probably more, but you get the idea.

Thanks alot! I have to make a collage of a topic we're doing called Inside The Machine...I'm doing a man with his skin pulled back and underneath is a machine...

used a lot of crumpled paper, scraps, and masking tape. kind of has a nice "garbage art" feel to it.
